When it is time to switch

People rarely switch accountant over one thing. It is usually a pattern that has been building for a while. If more than one of these sounds familiar, it is worth a conversation.

No communication in English

Your accountant only works in Czech, so you never really know what was filed or why.

Missed or last-minute deadlines

Filings happen late, or you find out about them after the fact. Penalties become normal.

Nothing is ever explained

You sign documents you do not understand and get no plain answers to simple questions.

Common tipping point

Unclear or rising prices

The invoice keeps changing and no one can tell you what the monthly scope actually is.

How the handover works

The move is designed so nothing breaks in the middle. We start by checking what is at risk — open VAT periods, an approaching VAT or tax deadline, any unfiled identified person obligation — and only then collect the file and take over. You do not translate anything or chase your old accountant alone.

The switch, step by step

  1. 01

Tell us why you are switching

Send the form with a short brief. Say whether you are OSVČ or an s.r.o. and what is going wrong now.

  2. 02

We check what is at risk

Before anything else we look at open VAT and tax periods and any approaching deadline, so nothing slips during the move.

  3. 03

    We collect the file

We take over the accounting data and, where useful, coordinate the handover with your previous accountant. You do not have to translate anything.

  4. 04

    You continue without a gap

We move the case into normal monthly service: books, VAT, payroll and returns filed on time, explained in English.

What you get after the switch

OSVČ from 990 CZK / month
s.r.o. from 1,990 CZK / month
  • A risk check of open periods before the move
  • File collection and handover coordination
  • Bookkeeping or tax records taken over cleanly
  • VAT, payroll and returns filed on time
  • Deadline monitoring and reminders in English
  • A named person who answers your questions

Final price depends on document volume and any backlog, which we check before quoting.

Plan the handover

Tell us what is going wrong with your current accountant

OSVČ or s.r.o., and what is failing now — no English, missed deadlines, no answers or price. We reply with the risk check and the handover plan.

Most takeovers start the same way: a founder who stopped trusting that filings were actually being done

FAQ: switching accountant in the Czech Republic

Is switching accountant complicated?

Usually not. Most of the work is on our side: we collect the accounting file, check the open periods and take over. You mainly confirm the handover and send us access to your documents.

Will there be a gap in filing?

No. We first check what deadlines are approaching and make sure nothing is missed while the case moves to us. That risk check is the first step, before anything else.

Do I have to tell my current accountant?

At some point yes, because we need the accounting data. We can tell you exactly what to ask for, and where useful we coordinate the handover directly.

Can I switch mid-year?

Yes. We take over from a chosen month and reconcile the year so the annual tax return is consistent. Switching does not have to wait for January.

What if some filings were missed by the old accountant?

Then the case starts with a short backlog review. We map the missing periods, close the riskiest ones first and only then move to normal monthly service.

What kind of accounting practice is Ganado?

Ganado is a Czech accounting practice for foreigners, OSVČ freelancers and foreign-owned s.r.o. companies. We support bookkeeping, VAT and identified person filings, payroll workflows, Czech tax return preparation and accounting takeovers in English.
